Full-stack Instructor & Developer

Description

We are looking for entrepreneurial full-time instructors to join our team. We are working hard to make engineering education more enjoyable, efficient and effective. Based in New York City, Grace Hopper teaches smart, passionate students the joys of Fullstack JavaScript web applications. Become part of the growing movement to help bridge the industry's gender gap.

About the Position

You will be working directly with the founders (experienced engineers and entrepreneurs) and a high energy, fun staff. This is a mixed teaching and development position with some unique benefits.

  • Work on impactful education software to deliver coding instruction in classrooms. This is a very new form of education and you will be able to push code daily that will be used by students right away.

  • You will be teaching the latest technologies to smart and motivated students (admission to the Grace Hopper Program is competitive).

  • This is an opportunity like nothing else on the job market today. Grace Hopper Instructors have a direct impact on the lives of their students, which is profoundly rewarding. You'll be writing code for our educational software one day and teaching exciting new dev technologies to students the next.

1

Loves to Teach

Whether you've taught classes on Skillshare, at your college as a TA or Professor, or as a tutor, you love to teach. Teaching gives you energy; decrypting students’ understanding of a topic and finding the missing gaps makes you happy.

2

Loves to Code

You love your craft and practice it daily. Ideally, you are a full-stack web developer who is experienced in JavaScript (server/client), Rails or client-side MV* frameworks like AngularJS. If you have stories of converting from SQL to Mongo (and possibly back again), wrangling complex control flow in Node.js, writing your own CSS grid framework back-in-the-day or are excited by things like Vagrant/Docker development setups, then you are probably the person we're looking for.

3

Entrepreneurial and Organized

You love spending hours heads down on a side-project, but you don’t let your responsibilities slide. You’ve ideally been involved in tech organizations, have given tech presentations, or have mentored new programmers.
